Well, it is that
time of the year once again. Did you start the year with the best of intentions
and a New Year's resolution? How has that gone for you? If you are like most people, it has come and gone. I believe
I can add some fuel to the fire and give you some ideas on how to get you back in action (if taking action is what you want).
Start with writing down three possible goals you would like to accomplish in the next three months. Take some time to think about it and flush out these goals. The criteria for these goals are that:
1.
They be realistic (for example: I want to lose one hundred
pounds in 1 month-not realistic)
2. What is it about accomplishing these goals that REALLY excites you? Imagine how you will feel when you reach the goals. What will
become available that was not available to you before?
3.
Spend some time really getting clear about what gets in the way for you.
Is there a need for accountability? Do you lose your excitement? If you
are like most people, you start off strong and it just fades along the way. What
support would help you to make this goal happen no matter what? What would keep
the excitement alive?
After spending the time really getting
clarity about what you want, pick ONE. Pick the one that has holds the most juice
for you, the one that will change your life the most. How much do you want this goal on a scale from 1-10? If the number is not above 8, pick another one. Now decide
that you are committing to making this one, specific goal happen.
My challenge to you is that you spend at least 10 minutes per
day "thinking" about already having accomplished this goal and to determine at least 3 specific daily steps. Consciously create your reality by thinking and acting like you have it already. If you notice any doubting thoughts entering your mind, get them out and go back to
thinking and feeling your way to your goal. Along with that daily practice, taking
your specific daily action steps will move you toward your goal. The stronger
your intention and thoughts are and the more clarity around your actions steps you have, the more likely you are to reach
your goal once and for all.
